Intentional turbo lag? Strange. I think having instant boost would be safer and more desirable than having to floor it to move off the line and get out of the throttle before the boost kicks in. Actually, I think I just described my wife's 1.8T Passat.

yes, or my wifes Jetta sportwagen TDI (previous car was a 1.8t passat) It does seem weird, but maybe its more to prevent shock load to ramp up the torque more gradually.

Maybe, but it took some getting used to, avoiding rear ending the car in front of me leaving a stop light.

I saw the concept truck at the Chicago Auto Show and was kinda disappointed. I wanted to actually check out the engine and figure out which one is under there.

That's odd. If I go to my Nissan dealer I can get a Navara (different name, same thing) which has Nissan's own YD, a 2.5 diesel. Wonder why they want to buy in a more expensive proprietary engine.

US emissions law plus a cummins partnership with the full size Titon. The 2.5 in the Navara isn't US compliant and it would be nearly as costly or more to reengineer it to comply.

Yeah, but I'm guessing it's either based on the QSB3.3 or a smaller ISB or possibly something new altogether. I was hoping to get some details on that.

I too would love some details. Cummins doesn't have a great reputation in the NVH department, especially with their 4 pots, so Im interested to see how this pans out.

I suppose, although they're going to have to do the work anyway - the next round of EU emissions regs is in the case of some pollutants stricter than US regs.

yes and no, Stricter CO2, laxer NOx.

* CO and particulates *. CO2 is another issue again.
